Lead Based Paint

About 40% of the homes in the United States contain lead-based paint. Lead paint is a hazardous substance that is dangerous to both children and adults, but especially to children under age 6, whose bodies are in their primary development period. Children can ingest lead-based paint by eating paint chips, or through hand-to-mouth contact with lead dust that has been displaced during remodeling, painting, or natural deterioration of existing paint over time. Although lead paint was banned in the U.S. in 1977, building interiors and exteriors constructed between the 1940′s and 1977 commonly contain lead-based paint.

Maspeth Environmental provides the most up-to-date lead-based paint removal services. Our qualified professional technicians work carefully and thoroughly to remove the hazardous portions of lead paint from your home in order to restore a safe environment for you and your children, or from your government or commercial site to make it safe for workers and the public.

We also perform all of our services using the safest techniques. We put up critical barriers around the site to prevent any toxic particles from spreading beyond the work area, and we dispose of all materials strictly according to EPA rules and regulations. In fact, all of our work is performed in accordance with, and in most cases exceeds, standards set by EPA, DEP,NIOSH and OSHA.

As of April 22, 2010, the EPA requires all renovators to be RRP certified who plan to work in homes built before 1978 and disrupt more than six square-feet of lead paint, so make sure that your contractor is properly certified. If you are not planning to remodel but are still concerned about the lead content in your building’s interior or exterior, call Maspeth Environmental to schedule a free estimate. We will help you determine whether your home’s paint is creating a hazard, and provide removal services if necessary.
